The Port Harcourt Logistics Owners Association (PHLOA) has announced a new base fare for dispatch and delivery services in Port Harcourt, starting from ₦3,000.
According to the association’s notice to members and logistics operators, the new base fare takes effect on 1st January, 2026.
PHLOA also stated that all members are expected to comply, and that non-compliance will attract sanctions based on the association’s regulations.
What “base fare” means
A base fare is the starting price for a service, in this case, a delivery, before extra factors like distance, location, waiting time, or special handling are added. So this announcement is basically PHLOA saying: the minimum starting point for deliveries in Port Harcourt is now ₦3,000.
This helps:
✅️ Customers know what to expect before pricing gets calculated.
✅️ Businesses price delivery into their product costs properly (especially vendors doing regular dispatch).
✅️ Riders/operators reduce the constant back-and-forth bargaining that slows down operations.
Other details mentioned in the notice
In the same announcement, PHLOA also listed weekly returns as ₦40,000 for bike owners/business owners who give out bikes on weekly remittance arrangements. Why this is relevant for Port Harcourt businesses
If you sell anything that moves daily (food, fashion, skincare, groceries, documents), delivery pricing affects your customer’s final decision more than people like to admit.A clear base fare helps you set cleaner expectations.
Even though delivery starts from ₦3,000 within Port Harcourt. Final fee depends on distance.
